WIley- 'Godfather' Album Review

Wiley- ‘Godfather’

The grime innovator Wiley is back with his brand new LP ‘Godfather’. With an album obtaining a title like that, the listener expects a confident effort from the East London MC, and Wiley truly delivers on ‘Godfather’.

Wiley is now truly considered to be one of the kings of grime, with ‘Godfather’ being his 11th studio album, effectively exhibiting his true talent and dedication for this genre that he effectively started, or at least made popular and accessible. ‘Godfather’ is a long album, 17 tracks long in fact, however his newest effort appears to be one of his best in a long time. The album features banger-after-banger with each track offering slick beats paired with high-energy bars and appealing hooks. ‘Godfather’ somewhat feels like a celebration of all that grime achieved in 2016, with the album featuring guest-spots from various MC’s at the top of their game, including Skepta, JME, Ghetts, Frisco, Devlin, Chip & Flowdan, successfully displaying the vast talent that this genre has.

‘Godfather’ rather rather seems to be like a dad creating an album with his children, with Wiley mastering an album with his grime friends that will all no doubt view him as the don of grime, quite obviously explaining the title of this album. Wiley clearly knows he is at the top of his game and is happy celebrating this fact. Long live Eskiboy.
